Caterina Licata is an Italian and Canadian Lawyer.

Caterina Licata attended the prestigious private university Luiss Guido Carli in Rome, where she got her Italian law degree. She got her license as an Italian lawyer in 2009.

In Italy, she worked as a corporate-criminal lawyer for several years for well-known firms, practising white collar crimes related with mafia, corporate criminal crimes. She willingly joined the Chinnici Foundation which investigates the hidden network of criminal organizations in collaboration with the police force of Palermo , the Anti-mafia DDA, One of her responsibilities included the analysis of all the trials from the 1970s until 2006 concerning interference of the criminal organization with public procurement. The main objective was to detect the money trafficking of the mafia criminal organizations. A Research work which gave support to the investigations of Palermo DDA (Palermo Public Prosecutor Anti Mafia District Office in its line of action against the several criminal bands.

From 2010-2012, she collaborated as an advisor at Corsolexfor s.r.l., Rome, Italy. Corsolexfor s.r.l. is one of the most prestigious courses in Italy in the preparation for the national judge exam and it concentrated on the practice of civil, criminal and public law. Her responsibilities included legal researches and articles for the lecturers, who were judges of the highest administrative Court of Appeal, in the field of corporate criminal law,corporate public and civil law. Her ambition was to become a judge, but this wish did not come true .

In 2013, when she moved to Toronto she started as volunteer legal assistant at the real estate law firm Aaron and Aaron in downtown Toronto.

At the end of 2013 she started the LLM in Canadian Common Law at York University where she achieved the recognition of her Italian law degree in less than 18 months. In 2015 she articled and she passed the Barrister and Solicitor exams; she was called to the Ontario Bar in June 2016.

In July-August 2013 and from October 2014 to March 2016, she worked as legal assistant at AudaxLaw, Toronto, her expertise was the following: real estate law (sale and purchase closings; review of the agreement of purchase and sale; review of the status certificate; dealing with occupancy; requisition letter and response to requisition letter; purchaser’s mortgage document; DRA agreement; managing PC Law and Conveyancer; solicitor’s final report on title; dealing with title insurance policy; dealing with Teraview for the preparation of the transfer ;Franchise Law (review of disclosure document for franchisee (review and draft the commercial lease, review the franchise agreement, review of the FDD, draft the legal opinion); dealing with the disclosure process for the franchisor (update the franchise agreement, the lease, manage the sale of the business); drafting the franchise agreement; dealing with the purchase and sale of the business); Corporate Law (incorporation, organization of a company, review of the minute book, familiar with Fast Company, draft directors’ and shareholders’ resolutions, share purchase agreements, contracts of distribution, property management contract, commercial leases, trust, shareholder agreement; dealing with the purchase and sale of the business.

From June 2016 to March 2017, after she was called to the bar, she was hired as junior associated at Zeppieri &Associates, North York. Her expertise was the following: Family Law (drafting Case Conference Brief; attendance at Default Hearing, at Case Conference; drafting Notice of Appeal; drafting Appeal materials; draft motions; dealing with disclosures; drafting submissions for the Closing Statement; summarizing the transcripts of trial for matrimonial home).

She was member of CIBPA, Italian Canadian Professional and Business Association (2013-2014)

She is member of CIAO, Italia-Canadian Lawyers Association.
